Two of my favorite painters, John Singer Sargent and Johannes Vermeer, are masterly in their exquisite and perceptive portraits of women. As an artist, I find working with models thoroughly satisfying because I can, somewhat magically, manipulate their realistic photos to create someone and something else entirely. Often a more fantastical creature emerges when her dress is transformed into a panoply of flowers and feathers or into a mosaic of delicate ink splotches.
No matter the pose, each image I create represents deep feelings and heartfelt hopes.
